Greg Travis is an entertainment professional who is experienced and accomplished as an entertainer, writer, and director. Well-versed in film history, Travis has directed 5 feature length films and 25 shorts. As an actor, Travis has over 70 professional credits and has worked with such A-list directors as David Lynch, Paul Verhoeven, Bob Rafelson and Milos Forman. Travis is often recognized for his co-starring roles in SHOWGIRLS, STARSHIP TROOPERS, and WATCHMEN. As a stand up comedian, he was one of the top headliners in the country, opening for such stars as Cher, Tom Jones, Dolly Parton, and appearing over twenty times on “Evening at the Improv,” “Saturday Night Live,” “The Tonight Show,” and many others.

Education

Associate of Arts Degree, Richland College, Dallas, Texas.
Studied filmmaking under William Friedkin, acting under Clu Gulager, dialects under Robert Easton, and comedy writing under Stanley Myron Handleman, all at Sherwood Oaks Experimental College in Hollywood, California.

Professional History

As a screenwriter, Greg Travis has written for producers such as Brian Grazer and James Keach. He has also written screenplays for Paramount, Disney, HBO, CBS and Showtime, with such titles as THE BACHELORS, THE WIMP, GAGRUNNERS, CRAZY, THE SCHOOL ZONE, THE BIG DEAL, BOLOW AND NOONBAT, DARK SEDUCTION, THE BACHELOR OF BABYLON, THE HIRING OF A NEW YORK HOOKER, WITH JOY, CRAZY JOE’S A COMING, THE SPOILER, THE ROAD COMIC, NIGHT CREEP, MY OLD MAN, MAX & THE MAGIC CASTLE, BOFUGLY, STUNT SCHOOL, DRAMA KINGS, G.T. INK, AND THE DECADENTS.
As a director, Travis has made five feature length films, including JOE DYNOMITE (1976, 80 minutes), FUTURE CIRCUS (1977, 110 minutes), DARK SEDUCTION (1984, 93 minutes), NIGHT CREEP (2003, 86 minutes) and MIDLIFE (2013, 103 minutes).

2013 Executive Producer, Producer, Writer and Director on full length feature film MIDLIFE, a drama-comedy about a salesman having a midlife crisis (103 minutes).

1984-2015 Co-Producer, Co-Writer and Director on full-length comedy feature DARK SEDUCTION, shot on 16mm black and white (81 minutes).

2011 Producer, Writer and Director for short film NOBODY LOSES ALL THE TIME (14 minutes) a behind-the-scenes look at Warren Oates and Sam Peckinpah making the film BRING ME THE HEAD OF ALFREDO GARCIA.

2010 Producer, writer, director of web show entitled DRAMA KINGS, six episodes.
A comedy series about a middle age married couple that is completely insane.
